According to the official website for The Supreme Court of The United States, The Supreme Court is summed up as enforcing "equal justice under the law". This Court is the highest court in the United States and acts as the final arbiter of the law. The Court also prides itself in resting on the public's faith.

The Supreme Court is made up of 9 judges, also known as the justices. These 9 are appointed by the President and eventually approved by the Senate. Due to the hierarchy, cases from the lower courts are appealed; these number to about 10,000. However, only 100 cases are accepted each year. The Court was established in late 1789 as part of the Constitution with very limited assigned power initially. The members of the Court did not have their own building until 1935, previously meeting and discussing in the basement of the Old Senate Chamber.

On a less serious note, The Court and its members have quirks of their own. To take a break from the less interesting dates and statistics, I wanted to share 3 ~fun~ facts.

1. On the top floor of the Supreme Court building there is a full size basketball court in addition to a gym.

2. In the term year of 2004, a study was done and confirmed that justice Scalia is the funniest of the justices, producing 77 rounds of laughter in the term. In conclusion, Scalia was determined 19 times funnier than justice Ginsburg.

3. For the 9 justices there is a full police force consisting of 125 officers and 7 district units. The Supreme Court police "work together to maintain order and keep the Justices wild parties from getting too out of hand".
